Wolves are due to return to training on Tuesday and Pereira could take charge then, with his first game potentially at Leicester on Sunday if talks go through.

O’Neill was sack on Sunday after Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Ipswich, which left them second-bottom and four points from safety.

His team, which included Tim Jenkins, Sean Derry, Ian Birknall, Neil Cutler and Woody Dewar, also left the team.
