Lamine Yamal should look to Cristiano Ronaldo as a role model in his career, according to Jorge Mendes.
Lamine Yamal’s agent Jorge Mendes has suggested the 17-year-old Barcelona forward should look to Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo as a role model to develop into a hugely successful player in the future, Tuttosport reports on Sunday.
Mendes avoided drawing direct comparisons between Yamal and Ronaldo, but he did cite the Portuguese forward as a role model for young players like Yamal for a sustainable career and future success.
‘I don’t want to compare, but there is no doubt that Cristiano is a good example to follow not only for Lamine but for all young players,’ Mendes said.
Mendes suggests Yamal can use the same mindset on and off the pitch as Ronaldo to reach the top of world football in the coming years
‘If he follows his example on and off the pitch, he will be at the top of world football in the next 20 years.’
The Portuguese representative also stressed that if Yamal stays focused and avoids things that bother him. It could give ยูฟ่าเบท the Blaugrana forward a chance to win multiple Ballon d’Or awards as well.
‘Lamine is without a doubt a player with incredible ability who can beat everyone else and he’s only 17,’ Mendes said. ‘If he doesn’t get distracted and if he stays focused, I have no doubt that Lamine will win the Ballon d’Or not once but many times.’
